Welcome to the launch of hirecruit.com. Our goal is to provide resources for job seekers and people involved in a company's hiring process. Over the years I have personally had the privilege of helping hundreds of people get jobs. In all of that time I am proud to say that my goal was always to put the
right person in the right position. This website is an extension of that philosophy. We want to make sure that people find the kind of positions where they are productive and companies can get back a high return on their human capital investment.
right person in the right position. This website is an extension of that philosophy. We want to make sure that people find the kind of positions where they are productive and companies can get back a high return on their human capital investment. Many years ago I had a new recruiter that I was spending an enormous amount of time with. No matter what I tried he struggled to get it right. He lacked no amount of effort but his understanding of technology and his ability to understand our candidate’s and company's needs was not growing at the rate that would allow him to be successful. During one of morning coaching sessions I told him that at the end of the week I would be giving him a written test. It would cover recruiting techniques as well as the technology we had covered. I closed the discussion with the statement, "if he wanted to be a success in our company he would have to do well on the test."
I could tell that he was really bothered by the fact that he would be tested. He went to his desk attempted to work for the rest of the day. As we went out the door that evening he said, "why don't you give me the answers to the test and I can memorize them", "That way when you give me the test I'll be able to be a success". He wanted me to help him be something he was not. I was stunned and of course said, "No that would not work". Needless to say, he did not pass the test and failed to make it in our company.
We want this website to accomplish the same thing I was trying to do with that rookie recruiter. It is not to teach candidates the questions and answers to help them be someone they are not nor is it to help hiring authorities eliminate potential candidates. It is to make sure that both parties are successful when a hiring decision has been made. Had I given that rookie recruiter the answers, he would have probably passed the test but I know he would still have failed on the job.
Moving forward we will be adding interview tips, resume outlines, and other items that should help both parties involved in the hiring decision. All I ask of anyone that chooses to use any of
our hiring and interviewing techniques is to be honest with themselves and the person they are speaking with. Hiring the wrong person or taking the wrong job never leads to long term success. We wish all of you long term successes.
